Gianluca Benigno

Professor Gianluca Benigno is Associate Professor in the Department of Economics at LSE. He gained his PhD in International Macroeconomics from the University of California at Berkeley. He has published on exchange rate economics, international monetary policy cooperation, monetary and fiscal policy. Dr Benigno has consulted for the Bank of England, International Monetary Fund, the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and the Inter-American Development Bank. He has been senior economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, economist at the Bank of England, Duisenberg fellow at the ECB, Peter Kenen fellow and visiting Professor at Princeton University. He is currently interested in understanding the rational of macroprudential policies and their interaction with monetary policy and the link between growth and business cycle. He is currently visiting scholar in the Research department at the International Monetary Fund.
