My research interests span the fields of political economy, urban sociology, development studies, economic and political sociology, quantitative methods, and East Africa. Currently, I am a Lecturer in Quantitative Sociology at the School of Social Sciences, University of Waikato, and a Research Associate in Political Economy at the Centre for Business Research, University of Cambridge.
My research engages in three overlapping topics:
1) Urban poverty and development
2) Determinants and consequences of IMF program
3) Political economy of East Africa
